RBI set to hike policy interest rates; raise inflation forecast on June 8
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is set to hike the policy repo rate by 40 basis points to 4.80 per cent on Wednesday and increase the inflation forecast for the current fiscal to above 6 per cent from its earlier projection of 5.7 per cent, according to market analysts and economists.
The six-member Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the RBI is certain to hike the policy interest rates as inflation has remained above the central bank's tolerance limit for the past several months.

5 killed, 5 hurt when van collides with truck in Arkansas
Five people were killed and five others injured after a large truck collided with a van belonging to school serving disabled adults in southeast Arkansas, authorities said.
The crash happened Monday afternoon on U.S. 65 when the 15-passenger van failed to yield when crossing U.S. 65 in rural Chicot County and collided with a truck that was hauling cooking oil, Arkansas State Police spokesman Bill Sadler said Tuesday.

China: Former Communist party official sentenced to death over bribery, insider trading
Tong Daochi, a former Communist party official of south China's Hainan Province, was recently sentenced to death with a two-year reprieve by a Chinese court for bribery and insider trading.
The Shenzhen Intermediate People's Court in Guangdong Province on June 2 deprived the former senior official of political rights and also confiscated all the personal property, adding that the illegal gains he obtained through the crimes, as well as the benefits generated from them, should be confiscated and turned over to the state treasury, the Chinese news agency Xinhua reported.

Alberta RCMP arrest six Teens after girl was allegedly chased and bullied
RCMP in southern Alberta say six teens in Nanton are facing criminal charges after a 13-year-old girl was allegedly chased and bullied late last month.
Police say they have arrested and charged five 14-year-olds and a 15-year-old, none of whom can be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
They are facing a total of 10 criminal charges that include intimidation, mischief and uttering threats.
Police say their investigation found a long history of inappropriate behaviour between the group and the girl.

The Punjab Police on Tuesday arrested eight people for providing logistic support and conducting recce and harbouring the shooters of renowned Punjabi Singer and Congress leader Sidhu Moose Wala who was shot dead on May 29, informed the State Information and Public Relations Department.

B.C. reports first case of Monkeypox
Monkeypox has spread to another part of Canada. The BC Centre for Disease Control has announced the first case in British Columbia, bringing the national total to almost 80 cases. The BC case is in a man in Vancouver. On Friday, the National Microbiology Laboratory said 77 cases of monkeypox had been confirmed in Canada. The BC centre says the risk to the general public is very low.
