IPS officer Paramraj Singh Umranangal reinstated
The Punjab government has reinstated IG Paramraj Singh Umranangal, who has been suspended for nearly 5 years in the case of Behbal Kalan and Kotakpura firing in Faridkot district of Punjab, with immediate effect.
His reinstatement has taken place on the order of the Punjab-Haryana High Court. The High Court had ordered the state government to reinstate them in the Punjab Police within 15 days. However, they have not been posted yet. They will report to the DGP for now.

Head-on crash kills family of three, including infant, in Agassiz, B.C.
RCMP say a family of three, including a baby, has been killed in a head-on crash with a tractor trailer in Agassiz, B.C.
Police say it happened early Tuesday morning on Lougheed Highway just outside the community.
The two adults in the vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene, and the infant was airlifted to hospital but died a few hours later.
Police say alcohol or drugs are not suspected as a cause and they are working with a collision reconstruction team to determine what led to the crash.

McGill University says encampment at downtown campus being dismantled
The pro-Palestinian encampment on the lower field of the downtown campus of McGill University is being dismantled.

SIT summoned Bikram Singh Majithia again
The Special Investigation Team investigating the multi-crore drug trafficking case of Punjab has issued fresh summons to the senior leader of the Shiromani Akali Dal, Bikram Singh Majithia.

Jalandhar by-election: 51.30 percent voting
Voting for the by-election in Jalandhar West Vidhan Sabha seat of Punjab was completed today. 51.30 percent voting took place till 5 pm. The result will come on July 13.
A three-way competition is being considered for this seat. In which former AAP MLA Sheetal Angural from BJP, Mahinder Bhagat son of former minister of BJP from AAP and former senior deputy mayor Surinder Kaur from Congress are in the election field.
