Farmers protested in Faridkot by showing black flags to Hansraj Hans
In Faridkot, a large number of farmers gathered near Shahi Haveli on Kotakpura Highway in Faridkot under the leadership of the farmers' organization 'sanyukt kisan morcha', who were angry with the central government for not accepting their demands, and staged a protest against BJP's Lok Sabha candidate from Faridkot, Hansraj Hans.
Farmers tried to surround the vehicle by showing black flags in protest of BJP candidate Hansraj Hans, who had come to meet party workers in Faridkot. Due to this, the police stopped the farmers who came to ask questions outside the meeting place.

When Alberta hiked the province's minimum wage to $15 an hour in the fall of 2018, it was the highest rate in the country.
But nearly six years and a pandemic later, the minimum wage hasn't budged even as Albertans face the highest inflation rate in Canada.
Most provinces and territories are increasing their minimum wage this year, and those that aren't just raised theirs in 2023.
That means one of Canada's wealthiest provinces is falling behind. Alberta now has the second-lowest minimum wage in the country. Saskatchewan remains at the bottom, at $14 an hour.

Canada needs to build 1.3M additional homes by 2030 to close housing gap, says PBO
The parliamentary budget officer says Canada would need to build 1.3 million additional homes by 2030 to eliminate the country's housing gap.
The newly released report looks at how many more homes would need to be built restore Canada's vacancy rate to the historical average.
The report by Yves Giroux also accounts for the number of additional households that would form if sufficient housing were available.
Based on those benchmarks, the PBO estimates that Canada would need to build 181,000 more homes a year than it currently does.

B.C. judge rejects bid to throw out Ibrahim Ali's murder conviction
A British Columbia Supreme Court judge has rejected an application to throw out the conviction of Ibrahim Ali for the murder of a 13-year-old in Burnaby, B.C., over what his lawyers say were unreasonable delays in getting him to trial.
Justice Lance Bernard made the ruling, with reasons to follow, moments after defence lawyer Kevin McCullough made his final rebuttal in the matter that could have seen Ali go free.
Ali was found guilty in December of first-degree murder in the death of the girl whose body was found in Burnaby's Central Park in July 2017.

Canada to allow 30-year amortization for first-time buyers' mortgages on new homes
The Canadian government will allow 30-year amortization periods on insured mortgages for first-time homebuyers purchasing newly built homes.
Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland made the announcement in Toronto today, saying it would take effect Aug. 1.
The Canadian Home Builders' Association has advocated for longer amortization periods, saying five more years would help with affordability and spur more construction.
Freeland also said the government will nearly double to $60,000 the amount first-time homebuyers can withdraw from RRSPs to buy a home.

Parkash Singh Langah, son of former Akali Minister of Punjab Sucha Singh Langah, has been sent to the remand of Himachal Police till April 12.
