Attack on Sufi singer Noora Sister's vehicle
Sufi singer Jyoti Noora and her companions were ambushed by robbers outside the 24 Seven store near BMC Chowk on Monday late night. The person working with Jyoti Noora Sister said that we were returning from a function near Wadala Chowk.
Meanwhile, some motorcycle-riding youths attacked the vehicle with machetes near Guru Nanak Chowk. 2 youths fled on the spot while the third accomplice was caught.
The singer gave this information to the police. When the police took the youth into custody, they found out that he is a minor. At present, the police are investigating the matter.

A rare shooting by multiple attackers at a Shiite mosque in Oman killed five people and wounded many more including a police officer, authorities said Tuesday. Pakistan's government said four of its nationals were dead and 30 hurt.
The Royal Oman Police said in a statement mentioned no motive or suspect and said the shooting occurred Monday night in the Wadi Kabir neighborhood of the capital, Muscat. The state-run Oman News Agency said three attackers were killed. It reported 28 wounded of “different nationalities.”

Farmers will leave for Delhi as soon as Shambhu border opens: Jagjit Dallewal
Farmers protesting at Shambhu border of Punjab-Haryana have announced to migrate to Delhi. After the meeting in Chandigarh, farmer leader Jagjit Dallewal said that the farmers will leave for Delhi as soon as the Shambhu border opens.
He said that we will take time only to collect the goods. The Punjab-Haryana High Court had recently asked the Haryana government to open the barricading on Shambhu.

Gaza protesters remain as Vancouver Island University's deadline to leave expires
A deadline for pro-Palestinian protesters to dismantle an encampment at Vancouver Island University in Naniamo, B.C., has expired without the demonstrators leaving.
The university last Thursday issued a trespass notice to the protesters over the camp that has been in place since May 1, saying legal action would be launched if they did not leave by 8 a.m. Monday.
It says in an email that as of about 9 a.m. the protesters "(have) not decamped" and the university would be issuing a statement.

'Damn, so close': UBC looks into professor's social media after Trump rally shooting
The University of British Columbia says it is "aware" of a social media post that was apparently made by a professor at its faculty of medicine shortly after the attempted assassination of former U.S. president Donald Trump.
The school says it is "looking into" the post and that it "does not condone violence of any kind."
Posts that appeared on a now deleted X account belonging to Professor Karen Pinder said "Damn, so close. Too bad,” and then later, in response to a comment, “What a glorious day this could have been!”
Pinder did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

B.C. wildfires holding steady at about 150, heat warnings span southern Interior
British Columbia's wildfire service says this week will bring "increased heat," marking a 15-day trend of hot and dry weather that has fuelled a surge in fire activity.
A provincial fire situation report says there's potential for thunderstorms in the Interior, while the northeast returns to a warming trend after a three-day break.

The hearing in the High Court on the bail plea of Arvind Kejriwal, who is in jail in the Delhi liquor scam case, has been postponed. Now the next hearing of this matter will be held on August 7 and till then Kejriwal will remain in Tihar Jail.

Quebec RCMP seize 63 kilograms of cocaine stashed inside grand piano, arrest four
Quebec RCMP say they seized 62.7 kilograms of cocaine hidden in the walls of a grand piano during searches in the Lanaudière region and the Sherbrooke, Que., area.
They arrested four people on July 12 allegedly involved in a conspiracy to import and traffic the drugs, following a tip from Homeland Security Investigations, a United States law enforcement agency.
RCMP say they also seized $10,000 in cash and several electronic devices.
