Pierre Poilievre says a Conservative government would bring in mandatory life sentences for those convicted of trafficking, production and distribution of over 40 mg of fentanyl.The Conservative leader says the penalty should be the same as murder. The Conservatives also want traffickers caught with between 20 mg and 40 mg of the drug to be sentenced to 15 years in prison. Voting for the 70 seats in the Delhi Assembly will take place tomorrow. The Aam Aadmi Party and Congress, which were part of the India Bloc during the Lok Sabha elections, are contesting all 70 seats.
The BJP has fielded candidates in 68 seats and allocated the remaining two seats to its allies, including the Janata Dal-United and Ram Vilas Paswan's Lok Janshakti Party. B.C. wildfire crews return from California deployment to combat L.A. fires
More than 30 firefighters from British Columbia's Wildfire Service have returned home from a deployment fighting large fires that destroyed thousands of homes around Southern California.
The Ministry of Forests say the crews are part of two separate groups, the first consisting of 13 technical specialists who were deployed on Jan. 11 to support the effort to combat the Palisades wildfire in L.A.

Former Punjab MLA Kulbir Zira’s Vehicle Targeted in Firing Incident
Former Punjab Congress MLA Kulbir Singh Zira reported an incident of firing on his vehicle late last night near village Sherkhan on Ferozepur-Zira Road. Zira stated that while returning from a friend’s house, he noticed his car was being followed. The attackers allegedly fired six rounds at his vehicle; however, no injuries were reported.
A complaint has been filed with the police regarding the incident.
Notably, Zira, a former MLA from the Zira constituency, contested against Amritpal Singh in the Khadoor Sahib Lok Sabha elections last year but was defeated.
