A plane carrying Canadians from Wuhan, China, has landed at a military base in Ontario where they will spend 14 days under quarantine. The evacuation flight was arranged by the Canadian government. All of Canada's evacuees will stay at Canadian Forces Base Trenton in Trenton, Ontario, where they will be monitored for the virus that has caused hundreds of deaths in Wuhan. Several governments have arranged similar flights including the U.S. and are requiring quarantines for the maximum incubation period of the virus to prevent local outbreaks.

Two more presumptive cases of the novel coronavirus have been diagnosed in British Columbia. Dr. Bonnie Henry, the provincial health officer, says a man and woman, both visitors from China's Hubei province, have been confirmed to have the illness. Henry says the visitors are linked to a woman who was diagnosed earlier this week in the Vancouver area. She says officials are confident one of the newly diagnosed people is the source of the novel coronavirus in that household. Two more Canadians have been confirmed infected with the novel coronavirus but they are not home, instead they are on a cruise ship off Japan. The pair were among the 10 people who tested positive after 10 initial cases were confirmed earlier in the week. The ship has since been quarantined and will likely remain so for two weeks. The cruise line says it will continue to fully co-operate with and follow the instructions of global medical authorities and the Japanese government.

The US Senate has acquitted President Donald Trump on both impeachment charges against him. The first vote on abuse of power was defeated 52-to 48. The second on obstruction of justice went down to defeat 53-to 47. US Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts made the announcements. Foreign Affairs Minister Francois Philippe Champagne says that the first charter flight from Wuhan will bring 211 Canadians home. Addressing a media briefing he said that a second charter flight is being considered. Champagne informed that weather complications delayed the flight to Wuhan by 4 hours. There has been a new presumptive confirmed case of the novel coronavirus in British Columbia. B.C. health officials says the latest case is a woman in her 50s who lives in the Vancouver area. Dr. Bonnie Henry, the provincial health officer, says the woman had family visiting from Hubei province in China, which is at the centre of the outbreak in that country. She says the woman's family members are still in Canada and health officials are monitoring them. The Federal Court of Appeal has dismissed the latest challenge of the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion today. Four First Nations from British Columbia filed court challenges after the federal government approved the project a second time last June. Surrey RCMP say the man charged in a 2017 shooting and two of his alleged associates are each facing 15 new charges. Abd'l Malik Loubissi-Morris was arrested in December and Tien Roy Mai Dang was arrested last Thursday. Police say an arrest warrant has been issued for a third man, Noah Didhra, who is described as South Asian, 21 years old, five-foot-ten and 230 pounds. Environment Canada has issued snow alerts in several areas of British Columbia for Tuesday.
