Carney announces that Canada is dropping many retaliatory tariffs on U.S. goods
Prime Minister Mark Carney says Canada is dropping some retaliatory tariffs on American products to match U.S. tariff exemptions for goods covered under the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement.
Carney says the decision will take effect on Sept. 1, 2025. Carney says Canada and the U.S. have re-established free trade for the vast majority of goods.
The prime minister says Canada will retain tariffs on steel, aluminum and autos as it works with the U.S. to resolve issues.

Chargesheet filed against Bikram Singh Majithia
The Vigilance Bureau today filed a chargesheet against Shiromani Akali Dal leader and former minister Bikram Singh Majithia from Punjab in a Mohali court. The Vigilance has produced more than 200 witnesses in this case and has examined more than 400 bank accounts.

Canada Post union says negotiation meeting delayed, with talks to continue Monday
Negotiations that had been scheduled for Friday between Canada Post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers have been delayed.
A press release from CUPW says it's been informed by Canada Post that the Crown corporation needs more time to review offers from the union.
The postponement comes after the two parties returned to the bargaining table on Wednesday, with plans to meet again on Friday.
Instead, the union says the meeting is to take place Monday.
CUPW says the Crown corporation's final offers did not meet its needs.
The union is also maintaining its national ban on overtime.
