PM Trudeau visits James Smith Cree Nation after September's horrific stabbings

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has visited the graves of victims of a deadly stabbing rampage in Saskatchewan. The September 4th stabbings left 11 people dead and 18 injured in James Smith Cree Nation, as well as in the nearby village of Weldon, just northeast of Saskatoon. Trudeau, accompanied by Indigenous Services Minister Patty Hajdu, went to a church this morning where seven of the victims are buried. The prime minister is meeting with leaders and community members throughout the day.

Vancouver Police are looking for witnesses and dash-cam video, after a driver lost control of a car Friday night and struck a pole, leaving three passengers with significant injuries. The collision occurred at 9:25 p.m. Friday, as a brown 2002 Buick Century traveled along East Cordova Street, near Powell Street. The driver lost control of the car, causing it to leave the road and strike a pole. Surrey RCMP is requesting the public’s assistance with locating a missing 23 year-old woman. Jasvir Parmar was last seen on November 21, 2022 in the 6600-block of 133rd Street. Her last contact with family was in the early morning hours of November 22, 2022. Since then, efforts to find her have been unsuccessful. Police and family are concerned for Parmar’s well-being. Structure fire claims 2 lives

On July 25, 2025, at 2:23 p.m. Prince George RCMP was notified that Prince George Fire Rescue was responding to a residential fire at the corner of Strathcona Avenue and Quince Street. Sadly, the RCMP confirms that two people lost their lives in the fire. The fire is not considered suspicious. BC Coroners Service has conduct of the investigation and any further inquiries should be directed to them. There are no further details at this time.
