Crews are battling a large fire that has erupted in Mission's downtown core. Mission Fire Rescue Service is on the scene and called in crews from Abbotsford Fire Rescue. BC Hydro says in a tweet that the fire has caused an outage affecting more than 17-hundred customers in Mission and Abbotsford.

BC's provincial health officer says she is concerned about a growing outbreak of COVID-19 at a federal prison in Mission. Doctor Bonnie Henry says there are now 35 confirmed cases at the Mission Institution and eight people are in hospital. Henry says all efforts are underway to contain the outbreak at the facility but the virus spread before it was recognized. There is still only one positive case at the Okanagan Correctional Centre but testing and surveillance are ongoing.

British Columbia is reporting 11 new COVID-19 deaths, bringing the province's total to 69. Provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry says B.C.'s total number of cases has increased to 1,490, up 45 from Saturday. Henry says 137 people are in hospital, with 58 of those in intensive care. Alberta is reporting 81 new cases of COVID-19. The province's chief medical health officer Dr. Deena Hinshaw says the total number of cases is now at 1,732.
