RCMP in Nanaimo have launched an impaired driving investigation following a hit-and-run crash in that city. The crash seriously injured an 18-year-old woman and totalled the car she was driving. The woman was hit from behind by a pickup truck that tried to cut behind her vehicle as she drove on the Nanaimo Parkway, sending her small car careening out of control, but causing little damage to the pickup. The Canadian Armed Forces says 16 service members took their own lives last year. British Columbia's deputy provincial health officer is encouraging residents to register for a second dose of vaccine as the province heads toward a return to normal life with declining COVID-19 cases and rising vaccination rates. Alberta surpasses U.S. in confirmed measles cases with more than 1,300

Alberta has surpassed the United States in confirmed measles cases, after 30 new cases were diagnosed over the weekend. The province has now seen 1,314 cases since the beginning of March. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has reported 1,288 cases so far this year across 39 states. The outbreak of the highly contagious disease hasn't led to any deaths so far in Alberta. Three people, including two children, have died in the United States. The U.S. has also seen more hospitalizations, with the CDC reporting 162 people have been hospitalized compared to just over 100 Albertans.
