Teen stabbed multiple times in fight over vape pen
Two Vancouver teens were hospitalized last night following a violent encounter on the city’s west side, which Vancouver Police believe started when one youth accused the other of stealing a vape pen. One teen suffered multiple stab wounds and required surgery. Several witnesses reported seeing two people fighting near a bus stop at Dunbar and West 41st Avenue around 8:30 p.m. When VPD officers responded, they located a 17-year-old suffering from a number of life-threatening wounds. Two police officers killed in Innisfil, Ont., shooting identified
One of the police officers killed in a shooting in Innisfil, north of Toronto, has been identified as a 33 year veteran of the South Simcoe Police Service. 54 year old Constable Morgan Russell was a trained crisis negotiator. He and 33 year old Constable Devon Northrup, who was a member of the mental health crisis outreach team, died after responding to a disturbance call at a home last night. A 23 year old man was also killed. Neighbours say an elderly couple with an adult grandson lived in the house where the shooting took place.

VPD investigate gun fire in Downtown Eastside
Vancouver Police are investigating after shots were fired and bear spray was deployed in the Downtown Eastside this morning. "Officers were at the scene within minutes but were not able to find a victim," says Constable Jason Doucette. "This is a heavily populated area and we are concerned someone may have been hit. King Charles III to be crowned May 6 next year, palace says
King Charles III will be crowned at Westminster Abbey on May 6 in a ceremony that will embrace the past but look to the modern world after the 70-year reign of the late Queen Elizabeth II. Buckingham Palace said in Tuesday’s announcement.

Police seek information after shooting victim drives himself to hospital
Surrey RCMP is seeking information on a shooting that occurred on Sunday and requesting anyone with dash camera footage from the area to contact police. On October 9, 2022, at approximately 6:13 p.m., Surrey RCMP received a report that a man with a gunshot wound had attended a hospital in another jurisdiction. The man was allegedly shot while in his vehicle waiting at a red light in the area of Scott Road and 110 Avenue in Surrey. United Conservative Party Leader Danielle Smith sworn in as Alberta's new premier
Danielle Smith has become Alberta's new premier. Smith was sworn into office by Lt.-Gov. Salma Lakhani in a ceremony at Government House in Edmonton.
Smith will also serve as intergovernmental affairs minister and plans to announce a revised cabinet on Oct. 21.
In her first remarks as premier, the United Conservative Party leader promised to govern on core values of freedom, family, faith, community and free enterprise.
She also promised to challenge the federal carbon tax and to introduce a sovereignty act that would reject federal laws deemed against the province's interests.

Australian man killed in Banff climbing accident
Alberta RCMP say an Australian man has died while rock climbing in Banff National Park.
Daniel Heritage, who was 28, fell from Cascade Mountain on Wednesday.
Paramedics, Parks Canada, and STARS Air Ambulance responded to the area.
A GoFundMe page says his wife witnessed the accident and he died in her arms. According to Heritage's LinkedIn page, he and his wife Emma moved to the Calgary area a few months ago to pursue their passion for the outdoors.

With 6.8 per cent GDP growth in 2022 India to remain fastest growing economy: IMF
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has lowered India's GDP growth forecast for the current year by 60 basis points to 6.8 per cent. However, despite the slowdown, India would maintain its position as the fastest-growing major economy in the world.
In its latest World Economic Outlook report, the IMF noted, "The outlook for India is for growth of 6.8 per cent in 2022, a 0.6 percentage point downgrade since the July forecast, reflecting a weaker-than-expected outturn in the second quarter (April-June) and more subdued external demand."
In its July 2022 report, the IMF had pegged India's GDP g
