Hundreds of mourners packed a Houston, Texas church today for the funeral of George Floyd. He was the black man whose death has inspired a worldwide reckoning over racial injustice. BC is reporting 29 new cases of COVID-19 over the past three days and no new deaths. Provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry says that's a positive note as the province slowly lifts more COVID-19 restrictions. The province now has a total of 2,659 cases with 16 people still in hospital, including four in intensive care. A judge has kept bail at one million dollars for a white Minneapolis police officer charged with second-degree murder in the death of a black man. Derek Chauvin said almost nothing during an 11 minute hearing in which he appeared on closed-circuit television from prison. A judge raised the 44 year old Chauvin's unconditional bond from half a million dollars. Chauvin also faces charges of third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter. Anyone using a British Columbia ferry on routes longer than 30 minutes will have to bring a face mask with them to protect against transmission of COVID-19. Starting June 15, BC Ferries says all passengers over the age of two will be asked to confirm they have a face covering and are willing to wear it if necessary. It says in a news release that customers must come with their own face covering and those who don't have one won't be able to board. The ban on non-essential crossings of the US-Canada border is being loosened. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says it is aimed at allowing some families to reunite.
