ED questioned AAP MLA Kulwant Singh for 7 hours
AAP MLA Kulwant Singh from Mohali, Punjab was interrogated by the ED team for 7 hours on Tuesday.
He reached the ED's Jalandhar office at 1.30 pm to join the investigation, after which the interrogation ended at around 8.30 pm. According to sources connected with the ED, the AAP MLA is suspected of helping in laundering money of drug trafficking.
It is also being claimed that some evidence has been found. However, neither the ED nor the Aam Aadmi Party MLA has said anything about it yet. According to sources, the ED is not satisfied with Kulwant Singh's answers and may be called for question

Chandigarh mayoral elections, BJP made a bet
In the mayoral elections of Chandigarh, the India Alliance has faced its first defeat.
In this election, BJP's Manoj Sonkar has become the new mayor of Chandigarh Municipal Corporation after defeating Aam Aadmi Party and Congress candidate Kuldeep Kumar.
One MP and 35 councilors voted for the mayoral election. In which the BJP candidate got 16 votes and the AAP-Congress candidate got 12 votes, while 8 votes were not included in the counting, these votes were declared invalid.
This was the first direct contest between the BJP and the opposition India Alliance across the country.

After pausing funding to UNRWA, Canada will send another $40M in aid for Gaza
Canada is sending another $40 million in aid to organizations that are helping Palestinians in Gaza after pausing funding to the UN's relief agency in the region.
The funding will go to groups including the World Food Program, UNICEF, the World Health Organization and the International Committee of the Red Cross.
Canada suspended funding to UNRWA, the UN agency that supports Palestinians in Gaza, in response to allegations that its staff played a role in the Hamas attack in Israel on Oct. 7.

Pakistani court sentences former Prime Minister Imran Khan to 10 years for revealing state secrets
A Pakistani court on Tuesday sentenced former Prime Minister Imran Khan and one of his party deputies to 10 years in prison each, after finding them guilty of revealing official secrets.
According to Zulfiqar Bukhari, spokesman for Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party, the court announced the verdict at a prison in the garrison city of Rawalpindi.
Khan, who was ousted through no-confidence in the parliament in April 2022, is currently serving a three-year prison sentence in a graft case.
The latest development comes ahead of the Feb. 8 parliamentary elections in Pakistan.

Ottawa to offer universities, colleges low-cost loans to build new student housing
Housing Minister Sean Fraser says post-secondary institutions will be able to apply for low-interest loans to build student housing starting this fall.
Post-secondary institutions will have access to a pre-existing program that offers developers low-cost financing to build rental apartments.
The Apartment Construction Loan Program was topped up with an additional $15 billion this fall, bringing the total funding available to $40 billion.

BC: Bodies of victims killed in helicopter accident recovered
The head of the heli-skiing company involved in a fatal crash north of Terrace says the three victims' bodies have been recovered after nearly a week.
A statement from John Forrest, president of Northern Escape Heli-Skiing, says the R-C-M-P along with Terrace Search and Rescue led the effort yesterday (Sunday).
The victims of the crash last Monday have been identified as three Italians. Search and rescue personnel had said last week that poor weather was hampering the recovery efforts, and Forrest says he knows how important it has been for their families to bring their loved ones down fr
