VPD arrests alleged hit-and-run driver, accomplice
Vancouver Police have arrested the alleged driver in a hit-and-run collision that killed a 24-year-old pedestrian Sunday night in Kitsilano. "We asked for help to solve this crime, and after receiving significant information from the public, VPD officers identified the suspected driver and arrested him yesterday at his home in Vancouver for the fatal hit-and-run," says Sergeant Steve Addison. Man charged in connection to multi-jurisdictional sexual assaults in Metro Vancouver
A 27 year old man, Hayden McCorriston, has been charged in connection to a series of sexual assaults, which occurred over a three-day period between March 31 and April 2, 2022 in Burnaby and Vancouver. The sexual assaults in Burnaby included five female victims in the Metrotown area who reported being groped by a stranger. Burnaby RCMP’s Criminal Collision Investigation Team continues to investigate a fatal collision that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist. Just after 2:00 a.m., on Sunday June 19, Burnaby RCMP frontline officers responded to a report of a single motorcycle crash near Willingdon Avenue and Sanderson Way. VPD investigates series of unprovoked weekend assaults
Vancouver Police are investigating an unprovoked machete attack in the Downtown Eastside – one of several violent and seemingly random incidents that kept VPD officers busy over the Father’s Day weekend. A VPD officer was flagged over near the Empress Hotel, at Main and Hastings, around 7 p.m. Sunday for reports of a man wielding a weapon. Pedestrian seriously injured in hit and run collision
Surrey RCMP is investigating a hit and run collision that sent one person to hospital with serious injuries. On June 20, 2022, at approximately 6:20 a.m., Surrey RCMP received a report that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle in the 8400-block of 132 Street. Frontline officers arrived on scene and learned that the suspect vehicle had fled. Screeners at airports in Abbotsford, Kamloops and Whitehorse are wearing street clothes to protest what their union says is substandard pay and disrespect from the federal government. Pedestrian killed in late-night hit and run on Vancouver's west side
Vancouver police say a 24 year old man has been killed in a hit-and-run collision. A statement from police says the victim and a friend were crossing West Fourth Avenue in the Kitsilano neighbourhood at about 11:30 p.m. Sunday. The man, whom police have not identified, was hit by a newer model grey sedan that they say appeared to be speeding. The driver did not stop and police say the victim died at the scene. Federal Court approves class-action on behalf of off-reserve Indigenous children
The Federal Court has approved a class-action lawsuit on behalf of off-reserve Indigenous children taken from their families and placed in non-Indigenous care over nearly 30 years between 1992 and 2019. The suit alleges many of the children were not told of their Indigenous heritage and suffered systemic negligence and violations of their charter rights. B.C. directs pharmacies to keep some types of baby formula behind counter
The threat of a shortage of specialized infant formulas in British Columbia has prompted an order from the Ministry of Health to put the containers behind the counter.
