The investigation into the discovery of a deceased man after a house fire on August 11, 2022, is now being treated as a homicide. The deceased was found in a home located on Athletic St, in south Nanaimo. In order to further the investigation, the name of the deceased person is being released to the public. A crash on Highway 3 between Osoyoos and Cawston has sparked a wildfire that closed the highway earlier today and has now prompted an evacuation alert in the area. Vancouver Police are investigating after a woman was found with gunshot wounds in the Downtown Eastside early Thursday morning. Officers discovered the injured 39-year-old near Main Street and East Cordova just before 1 a.m., after she approached a passerby and asked for help. Surrey RCMP is advising the public of a shooting in the Guildford area that left one person deceased and requesting anyone with information to contact police.
