A crash on Highway 3 between Osoyoos and Cawston has sparked a wildfire that closed the highway earlier today and has now prompted an evacuation alert in the area. The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen has issued the alert for about two dozen properties south of Cawston along Highway 3 and Sumac Road. Vancouver Police are investigating after a woman was found with gunshot wounds in the Downtown Eastside early Thursday morning. Officers discovered the injured 39-year-old near Main Street and East Cordova just before 1 a.m., after she approached a passerby and asked for help. When officers arrived, they found the victim badly injured. VPD provided immediate first aid to the woman, who was taken to hospital and is now receiving treatment for serious injuries. Surrey RCMP is advising the public of a shooting in the Guildford area that left one person deceased and requesting anyone with information to contact police. On July 24, 2022 shortly after 11:00 pm, a couple living in the 7000 block of Gollner Avenue were assaulted in an attempted break and enter. On August 8th at approximately noon, the New Westminster Police Department received a call from a witness advising there was a man walking through the Brow of the Hill neighbourhood with a hatchet.
