An Oregon man accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 13-year-old Edmonton girl is facing three new criminal charges in the United States. Police allege Noah Madrano lured the girl through an online platform then abducted her and took her across the U-S border in June. The girl was rescued on July 2nd when Madrano was arrested and taken into custody in Oregon City. According to reports he now faces a total of eight charges, which include kidnapping, four sex-related charges, luring and two counts of using a child in display of sexually explicit conduct.

They say officers responded to reports of a man found unresponsive on a road around 3:20 p.m. Police say paramedics arrived and declared the man deceased on scene. Police in Calgary have arrested two men suspected of running a firearms production and trafficking operation. Calgary officers have seized more than 12-hundred firearms _ including more than 300 believed to have been used in a crime _ so far this year. Nine per cent of those guns were homemade or 3-D printed, which police say is a significant increase over last year. Acting Staff Sgt. The Alberta government says it will provide a total of $5.2 million to support programs that prevent crime and keep people safe. Justice Minister Tyler Shandro says grants will be doled out to eligible groups over the next two years. The City of Calgary says it is reopening some of its service counters at its Municipal Building after a break-in and fire earlier this month. Services on the third floor of the building were affected by water damage because the sprinkler system was triggered. The low-income transit pass, tax advisory and cashier services are back in the downtown building. Officials say the planning and development service counter, which had extensive damage, will remain in its temporary location at the Whitehorn Multi-Services Centre until further notice.
