The BC government has expressed the possibility of no immediate agreement to end the trade war during Carney’s visit to the White House. The province’s Housing Minister Ravi Kahlon said that we are not expecting any agreement and we are also assuming that any agreement made by President Trump can be changed with a tweet the next day.

Friedrich Merz, leader of the Christian Democratic Union, has been elected as Germany's new chancellor in the second round of voting in parliament. In the first round of voting, he missed the 316 votes needed to win by 6 votes.
This was the first time in German history that a candidate for the position of chancellor had failed to secure a majority in the first round. A total of 325 MPs voted in favor of Merz in the second round of voting in parliament, which allowed him to cross the required 316.

NDP appoints new acting president Don Davies
The NDP has appointedDon Davies, a longtime MP for Vancouver Kingsway, as its new acting president. Davies was confirmed by the party's national council on Monday night. Former NDP president Jagmeet Singh announced his resignation after losing the Burnaby Central seat in the April 28 election.
