Ontario police say they were met with gunfire when they attempted to apprehend a man suspected in a homicide in Manitoba. Ontario Provincial Police say in a video on Twitter that officers received information that Eric Wildman could be in the area. Police say officers attempted to get into a residence in Prince Edward County, just outside Belleville, Ont., and were fired at when they tried to enter. The BC Wildfire Service says a blaze sparked Wednesday in the Fraser Canyon has charred nearly one square kilometre of bush south of Lytton. The wildfire service says the out-of-control fire is burning in steep terrain on the east side of Highway 1. A British Columbia woman says she needed hospital treatment for injuries including gashes and deep bruises after being attacked by a deer defending its fawn. Liz Royer says she was out for a run in Kimberley last week when the deer appeared out of the heavy bush and charged.
