Two dead in multi-vehicle crash just south of Whitehorse

A motorcyclist from Whitehorse and a Manitoba woman travelling in Yukon have died in a multi-vehicle crash just south of Whitehorse. RCMP and the coroner say an eastbound vehicle tried to pass another but clipped it and veered into the path of the oncoming motorcyclist. 43 year old Travis Adams died at the scene along with 47 year old Nicole Sanderson of Winnipeg, who was a passenger in the vehicle. Police say the driver of the car carrying Sanderson and a passenger in the vehicle were seriously hurt but are expected to recover.

Inmate death in Vancouver Island jail prompts coroners service investigation

The BC Coroners Service is investigating the death of an inmate at the Vancouver Island Regional Correctional Centre in Greater Victoria. 26 year old David Gordon Ivany was found dead in his jail cell on June 21. He had been arrested by West Shore RCMP three days earlier on probation-related charges and was being held in custody while awaiting his next appearance in provincial court in Victoria. Vancouver police investigate double homicide on the city's east side

Two people have been found dead in a home in east Vancouver.A statement from Vancouver police says the two men had been shot.Officers were called to the home near Commercial Drive and East 11th Avenue just after midnight.They say the unnamed victims were deceased, but have released no further details.The slayings are Vancouver's sixth and seventh homicides of 2020.

B.C. reports six additional deaths from COVID-19

British Columbia is reporting six more deaths due to the COVID-19 pandemic with all those who died in long term care. Provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry says four deaths were in the Vancouver Coastal health region and two were in Fraser Health. One person died in June but that death has now been attributed to the virus. The total number of people who have died due to COVID-19 in B.C. stands at 183. There have been 31 new cases of the novel coronavirus since Friday. The province has recorded a total of 2,978 cases of COVID-19.

At least 8 killed in plane collision at Idaho lake

Authorities say at least eight people were killed when two small airplanes collided over a scenic lake in northern Idaho. The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office on Monday said one of the aircraft was a float plane operated by Brooks Seaplane of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, which operates scenic flights over Lake Coeur d' Alene. That plane was carrying five passengers, including three children, and a pilot. The sheriff's office says the second airplane was a Cessna 206 that was carrying at least two people. The bodies of three victims have been recovered so far.
