Housing assessments in British Columbia show the real estate market continues to see signs of moderation in the Lower Mainland while stabilizing on Vancouver Island and other parts of the province. Another fire in Delta thought to be suspicious

Delta police say they're treating a New Year's Day fire that destroyed a commercial building in Tsawwassen as suspicious.The two-storey commercial medical-dental building was completely gutted in the fire that was reported about 4:00 a-m.Police spokeswoman Cris Leykauf says police believe the fire may have been deliberately set based on the evidence collected so far.Two other suspicious fires destroyed or damaged three empty homes in Delta last October but Leykauf says any link between those blazes and the most recent fire remains to be determined.

Senior killed in Vancouver's first homicide of 2020

Vancouver recorded its first homicide of the year following an assault at a troubled homeless camp in the city's Downtown Eastside.Police say officers were called to Oppenheimer Park on New Year's Day where a 62-year-old man had been assaulted.They say Jesus Cristobal-Esteban was taken to hospital where he died on Thursday.The identity of the suspect is not known, although police say they believe the victim and suspect had some sort of an interaction before the assault.

Snowfall warning in place for parts of B.C. as up to 15 centimetres expected

Some areas of British Columbia are under weather warnings Saturday as a powerful snowstorm continues.Environment Canada says there is a snow warning for a roughly 120-kilometre stretch of the Coquihalla Highway from Hope to Merritt. Two drivers killed in head-on crash in Kootenay National Park

Two drivers were killed in a head-on collision on Highway 93 in Kootenay National Park on Wednesday evening, according to the RCMP. Police said officers responded at about 5:30 p.m. to reports of a serious crash near the Simpson Monument. Investigators determined that a westbound vehicle crossed the centre line while negotiating a curve and collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle. According to the RCMP, each vehicle was occupied only by its driver. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene. A third vehicle was also involved in the incident, and its two occupants suffered minor injuries.
