Police seize $10 million in cocaine and meth
A Calgary man is facing charges after nearly 100 kilograms of cocaine and meth was seized from a vehicle in southern Alberta last week. Calgary police say the bust resulted from an investigation launched in November 2019 into a man thought to be involved in drug trafficking across Canada. Officers stopped the suspect Thursday while he was driving near Dorothy, Alta. about an hour and a half east of Calgary. The suspect was taken into custody and police say a search of the vehicle revealed nearly 47 kilograms of cocaine bricks and 48 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine. Staff Sgt. Kyle Grant

B.C. First Nations disappointed while industry welcomes Trans Mountain ruling
Several First Nations in southwest British Columbia are promising to continue to fight the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion while business groups are celebrating a court decision that upheld the federal government's approval of the project. Visitors get a chance to pick up abandoned items from Mission resort
Visitors who were helicoptered out of a Fraser Valley-area ski resort over the weekend had the chance this morning to return to pick up abandoned items -- including their vehicles. The Sasquatch Mountain Resort near Mission was cut off Friday night when a mudslide swept away a section of the only road into the area.Crews had managed to build a single-lane route over the slide by yesterday freeing the remaining guests, staff and area residents who had not left by helicopter on Saturday or Sunday. New presumptive case of the novel coronavirus in BC
There has been a new presumptive confirmed case of the novel coronavirus in British Columbia.
B.C. health officials says the latest case is a woman in her 50s who lives in the Vancouver area.
Dr. Bonnie Henry, the provincial health officer, says the woman had family visiting from Hubei province in China, which is at the centre of the outbreak in that country.
She says the woman's family members are still in Canada and health officials are monitoring them.
For the case to be confirmed, the results must also come back positive from tests done on samples at the National Microbiology Laborato

9 killed, including 3 kids, at video game arcade in Mexico
Four gunmen shot to death nine people at a video game arcade in western Mexico, and among the dead are three children aged 12, 13 and 14. Prosecutors in the state of Michoacan say Monday's attack left two other people wounded. The attackers were apparently searching for specific targets, but then opened fire indiscriminately on customers. Two of the victims were aged 17 and 18. The attack occurred in the city of Uruapan, where drug cartel turf wars have cost scores of lives.

Canadians in Wuhan to be evacuated Thursday, government letter says
The federal government has notified Canadians waiting to be evacuated from Wuhan, China that they will be flown back to Canada later this week.
The Canadian Press has obtained a copy of a letter sent to Canadians and permanent residents currently in the city that is the epicentre of the novel coronavirus outbreak.
The letter says a flight will depart from Wuhan's international airport early Thursday morning although no time has been given. It also says that due to high demand, the government can't guarantee that everyone who is eligible will be able to board the plane.

Federal Court dismisses Trans Mountain pipeline expansion challenge
The Federal Court of Appeal has dismissed the latest challenge of the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion today. Four First Nations from British Columbia filed court challenges after the federal government approved the project a second time last June.
A court hearing in December focused on the government's consultation with the First Nations between August 2018 and June 2019.
The consultation took place after the Court of Appeal struck down the first project approval in August 2018 in part because of insufficient dialogue with Indigenous groups.

Surrey RCMP charges 3 men with 15 crimes
Surrey RCMP say the man charged in a 2017 shooting and two of his alleged associates are each facing 15 new charges.
Abd'l Malik Loubissi-Morris was arrested in December and Tien Roy Mai Dang was arrested last Thursday.
Police say an arrest warrant has been issued for a third man, Noah Didhra, who is described as South Asian, 21 years old, five-foot-ten and 230 pounds.
Mounties say the investigation had expanded to include Vernon, and Kelowna, where a search turned up about $177,000 , 6 fire arms, and significant quantities of fentanyl, heroin and other drugs.

India: Major racket of fake invoicing worth Rs 1,200 cr busted, one held
The Anti-Evasion wing of Central Tax has busted a major racket by arresting one person, who was allegedly issuing fake invoices without actual supply of goods and thereafter availing of the input tax credit. In a statement on Monday, the Central Tax department said the arrested person has been identified as Daya Shankar Khushwah, who was having two different PAN cards, with which he had created 14 firms.
