Two dead in multi-vehicle crash just south of Whitehorse

A motorcyclist from Whitehorse and a Manitoba woman travelling in Yukon have died in a multi-vehicle crash just south of Whitehorse. RCMP and the coroner say an eastbound vehicle tried to pass another but clipped it and veered into the path of the oncoming motorcyclist. 43 year old Travis Adams died at the scene along with 47 year old Nicole Sanderson of Winnipeg, who was a passenger in the vehicle. Police say the driver of the car carrying Sanderson and a passenger in the vehicle were seriously hurt but are expected to recover.

Inmate death in Vancouver Island jail prompts coroners service investigation

The BC Coroners Service is investigating the death of an inmate at the Vancouver Island Regional Correctional Centre in Greater Victoria. 26 year old David Gordon Ivany was found dead in his jail cell on June 21. He had been arrested by West Shore RCMP three days earlier on probation-related charges and was being held in custody while awaiting his next appearance in provincial court in Victoria.
