Indian shooter Avani Lekhara on August 30 clinched gold medal in women's 10m Air Rifle standing SH1 in the ongoing Tokyo Paralympics. China's Zhang Cuiping won silver and Ukraine's Iryna Shchetnik won bronze. "For me, there can be no greater happiness than this. This is the result of her hard work. I hope she brings a gold medal in 50m shooting also," said Avani's grandfather. Lekhara became the first woman from India to win gold medal at Paralympics.

B.C. is reporting 867 new cases of COVID-19, including four epi-linked cases, for a total of 163,560 cases in the province. Canada's Priscilla Gagne wins silver medal at Tokyo Paralympics

The athlete who carried the Canadian flag at the opening ceremonies of the Tokyo Paralympics has won a silver medal. Priscilla Gagne of Sarnia, Ontario came in second in the women's 52-kilo judo competition. It was one of two silver medals Canadians won today.
