Trudeau, NATO’s Stoltenberg will be in Cold Lake, Alberta

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg will be in Cold Lake, Alberta, today as they wrap up a visit focused on northern defences. Yesterday they attended Operation Nanook, the country's largest Arctic military training operation, and toured a radar station in Nunavut. Experts have noted this is part of Canada's renewed focus on Arctic security in light of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, and the subsequent expansion of NATO. With Finland and Sweden becoming members, Russia will be the sole Arctic nation outside of the alliance. Stoltenberg and Trudeau will ho

Former Punjab Congress chief Sunil Jakhar, who had joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in May this year, said on Friday that Ghulam Nabi Azad's exit from the party "is the beginning of the end" of Congress. Jakhar told ANI that instead of introspecting why senior leaders are leaving the Congress and to look for weaknesses within, allegations are being levelled against them and they are being accused of "cheating" the party. "The remarks I made while quitting Congress, Ghulam Nabi Azad's letter has put a stamp on those words. What I was saying was right. A circle of sycophants has either

Jinny Sims criticises Doug McCallum on new stdium issue, Gordie Hogg calls it White Elephant

Just three of the thousands of reasons Surrey does not need a 60,000 seat stadium from Jinny Sims, Surrey Forward Mayoral candidate. "First, cost of living: Surrey taxpayers cannot pay for Doug McCallum’s folly," says Sims. "Already we are paying over $1,000 per resident for the ill-advised move to the Surrey Police Service, we simply cannot afford to pay thousands more for new stadium." "Second, who is supposed to play there? The BC Lions? The Whitecaps? This is not a case study for Field of Dreams; Doug McCallum is no Kevin Costner in Iowa. Even if we had an anchor tenant lined up, and Mc

Quebec premier open to return of U.S. wines if trade gains are made

Quebec Premier Christine Fréchette says the province could allow U.S. wines to return to liquor store shelves, but only if there are gains for Quebec and Canada in ongoing trade discussions with the United States. Fréchette said she wants to see reductions in tariff barriers affecting key Quebec sectors, including forestry, aluminum and manufacturing, before considering a return of American wine products to provincial liquor stores. The Quebec government previously directed the province’s liquor board to stop selling U.S. products in response to tariffs announced by U.S. President Donald T
