New fund to protect thousands of renters in B.C. - Premier Eby

More renters in B.C. will be protected from housing speculators and profiteers through the creation of a new $500 million Rental Protection Fund dedicated to protecting tenants and preserving affordable rental homes for decades. OPP issue $100K reward in case of 37 year old woman abducted a year ago

Police are offering a $100,000 reward to anyone with information that will lead to the location of a 37-year-old woman who was abducted from an Ontario home exactly a year ago. Elnaz Hajtamiri was abducted by three men dressed in police gear on Jan. 12, 2022, from a relative's house in Wasaga Beach, Ont. Investigators are still looking for the three men. The reward is being offered by Ontario Provincial Police and York Regional Police. Weeks before her abduction, police have said Hajtamiri was assaulted with a frying pan in an underground parking lot in Richmond Hill, Ont., in December 2021.

VPD searches for man wanted in summer stranger assault

Vancouver Police are asking for help to locate a man wanted province-wide in connection a random assault last summer. Andrew Kim Jack, 51, was charged with indecent act and assault with a weapon, following a series of incidents downtown on August 29. He was released on bail, but failed to attend court. His whereabouts are currently unknown. Anyone who sees Andrew Kim Jack, or knows his whereabouts, is asked to contact their local police agency.

Surrey RCMP are investigating following a shooting in the Whalley area overnight. On January 11, 2023, at approximately 2:20 a.m., Surrey RCMP received multiple 911 calls that a man had been shot near a convenience store in the 13100-block of 104 Avenue. Delta is experiencing a high number of catalytic converter thefts. Since January 1st, 2023, the Delta Police Department (DPD) has received 33 reports of catalytic converter thefts. Most of these thefts have occurred overnight and are spread throughout Delta.Catalytic converters are stolen because they contain several precious metals more valuable than gold. As of December 2022, rhodium was worth $12,600/ounce, palladium $1,854/ounce, and platinum $1,021/ounce.

A 45-year-old man is feared drowned after falling into Okanagan Lake while riding an inflatable tube being towed behind a boat, according to West Kelowna RCMP.
