B.C. premier says proposal for Vancouver as NHL hub city sent to Prime Minister
British Columbia's premier says the province and its top doctor have approved a proposal for the NHL to make Vancouver a possible playoff hub city in Western Canada during the pandemic.
John Horgan says he has written to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to advance the initiative put together by all three sides based on a modification of quarantine measures that would allow a team to remain together as a family or bubble.

12 new cases, no new COVID-19 deaths reported in B.C.
Adrian Dix, Minister of Health, and Dr. Bonnie Henry, B.C.'s provincial health officer, have issued the following joint statement regarding updates on the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) response in British Columbia:
"Today, we are announcing 12 new cases who have tested positive for COVID-19, for a total of 2,680 cases in British Columbia.
"There are 185 active cases of COVID-19 in the province and 2,328 people who tested positive have recovered.

Pedestrian seriously injured after being knocked down by car in Surrey
A pedestrian in Surrey is recovering in hospital after being knocked down by a car that veered onto the sidewalk following a crash.
RCMP say the unnamed woman suffered serious injuries when the two cars collided just after 6 last night in northeast Surrey, and one of the vehicles ricocheted into her.
Neither driver was badly hurt and both remained at the scene to speak with police.
The intersection was closed for several hours and police say a cause of the crash is still under investigation.

Opposition parties reject emergency COVID-19 aid bill
Opposition parties have refused to give unanimous consent to speedily pass the Trudeau government's latest emergency legislation.They have also rejected the government's bid to split the bill in two, to allow promised benefits for Canadians with disabilities to go ahead.Those benefits are now in limbo, along with other measures in the bill.The bill includes a proposed expansion of the wage subsidy program to include seasonal workers and some additional businesses, as well as proposed penalties for fraudulently claiming the Canada Emergency Response Benefit.It also proposes changes to the CERB

Road tests for commercial drivers resume next week
In line with B.C.'s Restart Plan, ICBC is now moving forward with a phased approach to offering in-person driver licensing services. Commercial road tests (Class 1 - 4) can resume next week, and will be by appointment only.Starting June 11, customers wishing to obtain a commercial licence can call 1-800-950-1498 to book an appointment. We ask customers for their patience as we anticipate high call volumes. Garneau asks Iran to explain to UN aviation council where black boxes are
Transport Minister Marc Garneau says Canada wants Iran to explain why it hasn't yet handed over the black boxes from the Ukrainian jetliner that crashed near Tehran on Jan 8.
Garneau is speaking this morning by video link to the United Nations aviation organization's council and he says it has been 92 days since Iran told the council that it would give the flight data and cockpit voice recorders to Ukraine for analysis.
Iran had refused to hand over the recorders since the crash despite not having the technology to read the damaged machines itself but changed that stance on March 11.

Arvind Kejriwal tests negative for COVID-19
The COVID-19 test results of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal have come out as negative.
The information was shared by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA and spokesperson Raghav Chadha through his official Twitter handle.
"CM Arvind Kejriwal tests negative for Covid-19. Thank god!" the tweet read.
Kejriwal underwent the COVID-19 test after he developed a sore throat and mild fever on Sunday.
At present, the Aam Aadmi Party convenor's fever has come down and his throat pain is also decreasing.
