He also thanked Qatar, Egypt and Turkey for "their tireless work to support the negotiations." The initial phase of the U.S.-backed peace plan calls for Hamas to release all of the 20 living hostages, and for Israel to pull its troops in Gaza back to an agreed-upon line. A regional district in the British Columbia Interior has declared a state of local emergency as an illegal dam threatens to burst. The district said on Tuesday that the unauthorized, man-made dam on Fadear Lake could fail and create "an uncontrolled release of water" into Fadear Creek in an area about 13 kilometres north of Sun Peaks Mountain. Residents in homes along Fadear Creek were

Alberta education minister concerned about private school funding petition

Alberta's education minister says cutting government funding to private schools would only escalate the pressure faced by the province's strained public school system. Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre Attacks Carney Over GDP Growth

Conservative Party Leader Pierre Poilievre has launched a sharp attack on Prime Minister Mark Carney over the latest GDP growth figures, accusing his government of leaving Canada with the worst-performing economy in the G7. Poiliev argued that one quarter of economic growth does not change what he described as Canada’s broader economic challenges under Carney’s leadership. He claimed Canada now has the lowest growth rate in the G7, the highest food inflation, the highest debt levels and the second-highest unemployment rate among G7 countries. The Conservative leader also alleged that inves
