Italy beats Spain on penalties, reaches Euro 2020 final

Jorginho converted the decisive penalty kick Tuesday to give Italy a 4-2 shootout win over Spain and a spot in the European Championship final. The midfielder took a trademark hop at the end of his run-up before rolling the ball into the bottom corner. The match had finished 1-1 through extra time. Federico Chiesa scored for Italy with a curling shot in the 60th minute but Alvaro Morata equalized for Spain in the 80th. Morata missed the next-to-last kick in the shootout, giving Jorginho the chance to win it. Italy will be back at Wembley Stadium for the final on Sunday against either England

214 fires now confirmed to be burning across BC: BC Wildfire Service

The BC Wildfire Service says 214 fires are now confirmed to be burning across BC, 92 of them sparked so far this week as lightning, parched conditions and a continuing heat wave create an extreme fire risk across most of the province. More than three dozen fires were sparked overnight and at least 24 of them are being blamed on thunderstorms that remain in the forecast. Heat warnings also remain posted for the inland north coast region and several parts of the central and southern Interior, including the Lytton area where most of the village was destroyed by flames last week. Mayor Daniella Levine Cava says 113 people remain unaccounted for, though only 70 of them are confirmed to have been in the building when it collapsed. Officials overseeing the search at the site of the Florida condominium collapse seem increasingly somber about the prospects for finding anyone alive. They said Tuesday that crews have detected

Vancouver Police project targets gang activity

Vancouver Police have seized more than $4 million worth of drugs and $320,000 in cash in an investigation targeting gang activity in Metro Vancouver. "We believe this investigation, which ultimately led police to two major ‘stash houses,’ disrupted a significant drug-line supplying drugs in bulk." Detectives in the VPD’s Organized Crime Section initiated Project Tache about six weeks ago to target the drug trafficking activities of a high profile gang. Police
