Ontario expanding private delivery of public health-care services in 3-step plan
Ontario is expanding the private delivery of public health care, by funding clinics to perform more cataract surgeries as well as MRI and CT scans. Announcing a three-step plan today, Premier Doug Ford says he laments debates over who should deliver health care and cares only about getting it delivered quickly and safely. VPD searches for man wanted in serious assault
Vancouver Police are searching for a man wanted province-wide for the assault of a 70-year-old convenience store worker last week. Fario Mabanza, 27, was charged with assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, and theft, following the January 8 assault on a woman who tried to stop a shoplifter at a downtown convenience store. Mabanza was released on bail but allegedly failed to return for a scheduled court appearance and is now wanted B.C.-wide. Mabanza is 5’10 and 200 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. BC RCMP notifies IIO BC of incident in Kitimat
The BC RCMP has notified the Independent Investigations Office of British Columbia of an incident in Kitimat which resulted in a man being taken to hospital with serious injuries. On January 13, 2023, at approximately 5:10 a.m., Kitimat RCMP responded to a call of a break and enter at a local business.When officers attended the area, a possible suspect was observed carrying a large bag. Two vehicles race, crash in North Vancouver
Two high end BMWs were impounded and their drivers ticketed after racing and then crashing this weekend. On January 15th at approximately 12:00 am members from the North Vancouver RCMP Traffic unit were conducting speed enforcement on Hwy 1 at Westview Drive when they observed two high end BMWs in tandem, racing Eastbound at a high rate of speed.Using a speed measuring device, officers determined both vehicles were travelling at 145 km/h in an 80 km/h zone. Surrey RCMP is advising the public of a significant seizure of drugs, cash and a loaded shotgun from a residence in Whalley area. Richmond RCMP Property Crime Unit investigation results in guilty plea to break and enters to four Richmond businesses. With assistance from the Integrated Municipal Provincial Auto Crime Team (IMPACT), Richmond RCMP Property Crime Unit successfully laid charges against a man associated to four break and enters in Richmond. Three employees remain missing after explosion at Quebec propane business
Three people are still missing after an explosion and fire rocked a propane business north of Montreal. The local fire department responded to calls yesterday morning about the blast at Propane Lafortune but were forced to retreat for several hours due to the risk of further explosions. Crews were able to bring the blaze under control in the evening. The propane business is located about 50 kilometres north of Montreal.
