Mehar Malhotra, an 18-year-old student from the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), originally from Ludhiana is making waves on the international film scene with her poignant short film, "Parchaave Massiah Raatan De" (Shadows of the Moonless Nights).
Selected for the prestigious La Cinef section at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, this 24-minute Punjabi film delves deep into the lives of factory workers in Mumbai, exploring the heavy themes of insomnia and mental health.
Drawing from her own experiences with insomnia and the pressures of rigorous work schedules, Mehar's storytelling resonates with authenticity and emotional depth.
