Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone’s Mumbai residence has come under heightened security after an alleged extortion threat triggered alarm bells. Armed guards and a uniformed police officer have been stationed outside the couple’s home, a move that has sparked concern among residents of their housing society. The society’s managing committee reportedly wrote to the local police, questioning the sudden deployment and flagging worries about armed personnel being present in common areas like the lobby, gym, and children’s play zone.
The security ramp-up follows a disturbing WhatsApp voice message allegedly sent to Ranveer Singh, demanding a hefty ransom running into crores. Mumbai Police have confirmed that the threat is being taken seriously, with the crime branch stepping in to trace the source of the message. Investigators are also examining possible links to an extortion network, as fears around celebrity safety grow in the city.
Coming soon after a recent firing incident at filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s home, the episode has added to the unease surrounding high-profile figures in Mumbai.
