Actor Mouni Roy has spoken out about an alleged incident of harassment that she says took place during her performance at a private wedding event in Karnal.
According to Mouni, the uncomfortable episode unfolded while she was on stage entertaining guests at the function. She alleged that a section of the audience behaved in an inappropriate manner, passing offensive comments and crossing personal boundaries. In her note, the actress expressed shock over the conduct of some attendees, including elderly men, stating that their actions left her feeling humiliated.
The actress further claimed that while she was making her way to the stage, certain individuals repeatedly touched her waist under the pretext of clicking photographs, even after she clearly asked them to stop. Calling the incident unsettling, Mouni highlighted a larger concern, saying that if an established artiste like her could face such treatment, it raises serious questions about the safety of newcomers in the industry who perform at similar events.
Emphasising the dignity of performers, she urged authorities to step in and ensure accountability. “We are artistes who earn our livelihood through our work and deserve basic respect,” she stated in her message.
The incident has sparked conversations online about the safety and treatment of performers at private events, with many fans and colleagues voicing support for the actress.
