Renowned Punjabi actor and fitness icon Kartar Cheema is returning to the big screen this summer with Sikander 3, the latest installment in a franchise that has long explored themes of youth, politics, betrayal, and redemption.

Sikander’s themes of politics and loyalty have long drawn attention not only in Punjab but in cities like Surrey and Edmonton, where Punjabi youth see their own challenges reflected on screen. Connect FM carried Cheema’s remarks on-air this week, underscoring how original cultural coverage forms part of our daily programming.

In his conversation with Connect FM, Cheema reflected on why the series continues to connect with audiences. “The story of Sikander is about intensity and choices - about how politics and personal ambition can transform lives. It’s relevant to every generation of Punjabi youth,” he said.

The first two films in the franchise, released in 2013 and 2019, tackled the dark realities of student politics in Punjab. With Sikander 3 set for theatrical release on July 18, 2025, Cheema said the new film would again raise questions about power and responsibility.

Cheema’s motivational reels on health and discipline have found a large following among Surrey’s Punjabi youth, who see fitness and mental resilience as part of their cultural identity. “Fitness is not only about the body, it’s about mental strength. That discipline carries into everything - including the roles I choose,” he told Connect FM.

He also shared a personal detail, saying he has always wanted to name his daughter Shiddat - a name symbolizing intensity, passion, and depth, qualities he says reflect both his life philosophy and his choice of roles.
