Filmmaker Karan Johar attended the Met Gala for the first time, wearing a custom outfit designed by Manish Malhotra, according to details shared about the appearance.
The ensemble, titled “Framed in Eternity,” featured a power-shoulder vintage jacket paired with a hand-painted cape measuring approximately six feet. The design drew inspiration from the work of Indian painter Raja Ravi Varma.
According to the description of the garment, more than 80 artisans worked on the piece over a period of about 85 days. Johar completed the look with a multi-gemstone necklace and rings from his jewellery brand, Tyani.
Event organizers set this year’s Met Gala theme as “Costume Art,” with a dress code described as “Fashion is Art.”
