The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has formally requested that actor Sunny Deol and director Imtiaz Ali cut all professional associations with singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh. The call comes amid growing backlash surrounding Dosanjh’s upcoming film Sardaar Ji 3, which stars Pakistani actress Hania Aamir. Although the film will not hit Indian theaters, it is scheduled for an overseas release this Friday.
FWICE issued individual letters to both Deol and Ali, voicing the collective disapproval within the film industry and urging them to immediately step away from any collaborations with Dosanjh, who is currently being boycotted by multiple film industry unions in Mumbai.
In the letter addressed to Sunny Deol—who is attached to the upcoming war film Border 2—FWICE emphasized, “By distancing yourself from this project, you will reinforce your reputation as a true patriot and convey a powerful message that the nation's interests outweigh personal gains.”
Border 2, the sequel to JP Dutta’s iconic 1997 war film Border, recently began its third phase of filming in Pune.
