A late-night scare rocked Mumbai after gunshots were fired at filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s Juhu residence, but police swiftly moved in and arrested four suspects linked to the attack.
The incident took place around 12:45 a.m. on February 1, when at least five bullets were fired at the first floor of Shetty’s nine-storey building. One round shattered the glass of a gym inside the premises. Thankfully, no injuries were reported, and it remains unclear whether the filmmaker was home at the time.
Within hours, Mumbai Police detained five individuals in Pune, four of whom were later arrested by the Crime Branch’s Anti-Extortion Cell. Investigators say the accused are connected to Shubham Lonkar, an alleged associate of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and a key accused in the Baba Siddique murder case. A threatening social media post claiming responsibility surfaced shortly after the firing, adding to the alarm.
Security around Shetty’s residence has since been tightened. The four arrested suspects have been remanded to police custody until February 5.
