Film shootings re-assume in Punjab

In the first public announcement delivered through a live Facebook feed, Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh said that he has allowed shootings of films and music to resume in the state.

Although many singers and actors had started shoots after the relaxation of curfew in Punjab, these were mostly carried out on a small scale.

However, the CM did mention that shootings can only take place with the conditions laid down under the Covid guidelines, he did not elaborate on these conditions. This announcement has evoked a mixed response from the Punjabi entertainment industry. Punjabi filmmaker Karaj Gill of Lahoriye and Angrej fame said that although the CM has allowed shootings to resume, the conditions laid down are hard and pretty difficult to follow. "We are trying to negotiate with the government to offer some relaxations," he added.

On the other hand producer Gunbir Sidhu of White Hill Productions said that they will reassume shootings and they will also follow the guidelines laid down by the government." It should be noted that Capt Amarinder has instructed all DCs to permit shooting films and music videos, while adding that wearing a mask can prevent the spread of Covid up to at least 70 per cent.
