The Delhi High Court has granted bail to Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav in connection with a cheque bounce case linked to an outstanding loan dispute. Yadav had been lodged in Tihar Jail in recent days following legal proceedings related to the matter.
The court declined to extend any special concession and directed that a demand draft of Rs. 1.5 crore be deposited before bail could be approved. After the specified amount was submitted within the given time frame, the court ordered his release on bail.
The case stems from a reported loan dispute of approximately Rs. 9 crore, which led to proceedings under cheque dishonour provisions. Financial disputes of this nature are typically addressed under the Negotiable Instruments Act, which allows courts to order recovery and impose penalties when cheques are returned unpaid.
Singer Anup Jalota publicly expressed support for Yadav during the proceedings. Jalota announced a contribution of Rs. 5 lakh to assist his longtime associate and voiced concern about the actor’s situation, stating he would stand by him.
The case continues to draw attention within the film industry, as legal and financial disputes involving public figures often prompt wider discussion about accountability and financial management in the entertainment sector.
