Boman Irani who is currently bathing in applause and appreciation for the portrayal of Geetu Gulati has recently opened his heart out in an exclusive wholesome conversation with Faridoon Shahryar on Connect Cine. While he talked about his experience of being a part of Dunki, playing a Punjabi character, his personal life and more, he also discussed in detail the love and respect he shares with Shah Rukh Khan.

On being asked his impression of Bollywood’s King Khan, Boman was all praises for Shah Rukh Khan. He said he loves SRK for the kind of person and artist he is. Explaining in detail, he said, “I think Shahruukh understands where he comes from… But he understands what it is for a person to be doing in one of their first films in the film industry and how one is treated not as a commodity, not as a person who is supplying something. That person is supplying his talent, his art, his being and there is a certain amount of nervousness and anxiousness of how one will perform.”

He also went on to praise the great memory of the Pathan actor and beautifully quoted how SRK narrates the tales of his early days. Boman said, “SRK has a good memory. He speaks of his early days with great love and great fascination. Not that he has become successful but the fact that those early days meant so much to him… I think he empathizes with that, so when people come on to his set, I think he feels it is incumbent upon him to make sure the atmosphere on the set is good.”

Boman’s golden words for Shah Rukh Khan did not end here as he also revealed that even when he is not the producer of the film, he is the producer of the film. Revealing how SRK ensures a light and healthy environment on the film sets, he said, “He always starts with a joke, always. And more often than not, the magic bullet of all, is that he fires is a joke on himself. it is the greatest talent he has.”

Not only this, but Boman also commented on the people who often question Shah Rukh Khan’s timeline in Bollywood. Boman proudly called SRK the ambassador of the Bollywood Film Industry. And to give a befitting reply to people who feel SRK’s career is over, he had a very polite yet brilliant statement to make. Boman said that he doesn’t feel that the people who are sitting and deciding the fate and timeline of Shah Rukh Khan have anything to do with this. He also said, “Let’s imagine he did not have these three great hits. So what? What happens only today, only by three hits? No, we respect him for his legacy, you can’t mess around with that. SRK is a busy guy, he wants to be busy, he likes entertaining people, and he likes to see joy on the faces of people. He is delivering for the joy of the public. For every single person who writes DDLJ is great, there are 10 thousand who say, we want SRK to keep entertaining.”

Concluding the discussion with a very positive and enlightening statement he said that there is no need to concentrate on people who are writing him off. But in fact, we must concentrate on the people who are praying that he’ll continue to entertain us.

Boman’s views and statements about Shah Rukh Khan have surely impressed the massive fan following of Bollywood’s King. Apart from this, Boman also opened up about his awaited directorial debut and how he started from a complete zero to learn the basics of film writing.
