Punjabi cinema is making headlines even before the curtains rise, as Bambukat 2 gears up for release with a bold decision to stay away from PVR theatres. The film’s team, led by popular stars Ammy Virk and Binnu Dhillon, has chosen to boycott the multiplex giant, alleging that Punjabi films are consistently sidelined when it comes to prime show timings and adequate screens compared to Hindi and South Indian releases.

According to the makers, this unequal treatment has hurt regional cinema financially and creatively, prompting them to take a stand.

Instead of backing down, the team is taking the film to other multiplex chains and independent cinemas, urging fans to turn up in large numbers and show their support. The move has ignited a wider debate in the entertainment industry, with conversations growing louder about fair representation and equal space for Punjabi-language films on major screens.
