Veteran singer Anup Jalota has come out in support of actor Rajpal Yadav, who is currently lodged in Delhi’s Tihar Jail in connection with a prolonged cheque bounce and loan default matter. Standing by his longtime friend during the legal crisis, Jalota announced that he would contribute ₹5 lakh to help ease the financial strain.
In a heartfelt video message, Jalota expressed concern over Yadav’s situation, saying he had learned about the hardships the actor is facing. Calling life a journey filled with highs and lows, the singer said it was important to stand by friends in tough times. He added that while many from the film fraternity had already stepped forward to help, he too was sending ₹5 lakh in the hope that it would offer some relief.
Several prominent names from the entertainment industry, including Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, Sonu Sood and Mika Singh, are also reported to have extended support to Yadav and his family as the legal battle unfolds.
The case against Rajpal Yadav relates to a ₹9 crore debt linked to unpaid dues following the failure of his 2012 film Ata Pata Laapata.
Earlier this month, Yadav surrendered at Tihar Jail after the court dismissed his last-minute request for additional time to clear the dues. He has been directed to serve a six-month sentence after repeated non-compliance with court orders.
