Punjabi singer-actor Ammy Virk has landed in a controversy owing to his upcoming Punjabi movie Qismat 2. Reportedly, the statements made by the makers of ‘Qismat 2’ during the farmers’ protest didn’t go down well with the general public, and Ammy being a part of the movie is being trolled for this. People believe that Ammy is siding with the godi media and with Bollywood, and both these platforms haven’t been supportive of the ongoing kisan andolan.

However, many of Ammy’s industry friends have stood up for the actor and mentioned that the movies that Ammy is being targeted for were signed before the November 2020 farmers’ protest controversy. He was bound by a contract to do the movies. In one of the interviews, film director Jagdeep Sidhu also said that the farmer protests didn’t even begin back when the actor signed the movies.

Many other Punjabi celebrities took to social media to support Ammy. Singer-actor Gurnam Bhullar wrote- “Saare punjabia nu satikar sahit benti hai , #qismat2 #bhuj #83 ehh filma kisaan andolan de shuru hon to pehla sign kitiya hoiya c , ehde vich ammy bai da koi ksoor ni odo chit cheta v nhi c ke punjab di kisaani te ahh bipta aan payegi , asi saare tuhade ii putt aa tuhade ii bache , bina sach jaane sanu ik duje baare jhuthiya khabraa laun to pehla sab kuch pta kar laina chaida , #kisanMajdoorEktaJindabaad @ammyvirk @jagdeepsidhu3”.
