Aamir Khan’s upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par has been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) without any edits, despite earlier reports suggesting a clash over suggested cuts.
The matter was reportedly resolved after a meeting with board officials, allowing the film to proceed to release without alterations.
Slated to hit theatres on June 20, the film is a spiritual successor to the 2007 hit Taare Zameen Par. Directed by RS Prasanna, it centers on a disillusioned basketball coach (played by Aamir Khan) who, after a DUI sentence, is assigned to train neurodivergent adults. What begins as community service soon transforms into a personal journey of empathy and growth.
Backed by Aamir Khan Productions, the film features Genelia Deshmukh in a pivotal role and introduces nine neurodivergent children in prominent parts. It also stars 10 newcomers and marks the screen debut of Aamir’s 90-year-old mother, Zeenat Hussain, along with his sister, Nikhat Hegde.
