Premier John Horgan

John Horgan says he will resign in the fall after the New Democrats hold a leadership convention.

The 62-year-old premier says he is in good health but his energy flags as the days go by.

Horgan says his work has been the thrill of his life and though he is now free of cancer, he's not able to make another six-year commitment to the job.

He announced last November that he was diagnosed with throat cancer and also had bladder cancer in his 40s.
