In an unexpected development, the Mohali Court has issued a bailable warrant for Punjabi singer and actor Gippy Grewal. He had been summoned by the Judicial Magistrate First Class of Mohali to testify in a case but missed three scheduled court appearances.
In the meantime, the court has ordered that Gippy Grewal be brought in under a bailable warrant, with a surety of Rs 5,000. This legal action was prompted by his failure to appear despite previous court summonses.
Gippy Grewal initially lodged a complaint at the Phase-8 police station against gangster Dilpreet Baba, alleging extortion and threats, which resulted in a case being filed against Baba. The court has now stated that if Gippy Grewal fails to appear on the next scheduled date, a non-bailable warrant will be issued for his arrest.
The next hearing is set for August 20. A warrant was first issued on July 4, requiring Gippy Grewal to appear by July 10. Despite being based in Canada for several months, Grewal was instructed by the court to be physically present, as his testimony is deemed essential to the case.
