Kangana Ranaut, the acclaimed Bollywood star turned politician, has announced that her upcoming film, "Emergency," has received a censor certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

Taking to Instagram, Ranaut expressed her excitement, stating, “We have received the certificate for our movie ‘Emergency.' We will be announcing the release date soon. Thank you for your patience and support!” She tagged her production team, including @manikarnikafilms, @zeestudiosofficial, and @nishantpitti.

The film has sparked considerable controversy as it explores the tumultuous era of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, particularly focusing on the Emergency period and the events leading to her assassination by her own bodyguards.

In a recent ruling, the Bombay High Court instructed the Censor Board to address any objections raised by Sikh organizations and individuals regarding the film's planned release on September 6.

The CBFC's examining committee granted the film a 'UA' certification, contingent upon the filmmakers making three specific cuts and providing factual backing for certain contentious historical claims.
